Frequently Asked Questions
How long have you been a writer?
I started making books when I was a young girl. One was a book about how to take care of my budgie and another was a book of poems and riddles. The covers were made of colored cardboard tied with yarn. I illustrated each book myself and dedicated them to my family.
When were you first published?
I entered an Edmonton Journal writing contest at the age of 12. At that time the Journal had a kid’s page and I was an official Cub Reporter. I didn’t win the contest but received an honorable mention. This led to my first paying job with the weekly Sherwood Park News, where I wrote a question and answer bird column.
What do you do when you’re not writing?
When I am not writing, I am wishing I was writing. I also like to spend time outdoors, walking, cycling, kayaking, camping, and enjoying nature. I read every day and often visit libraries in Devon, Spruce Grove, and Edmonton. Sometimes I go stiltwalking or swimming. I have a Bichon Frise named Fifi, who I like to spend time with teaching tricks. She can run through a tunnel, take a bow, and point to the stars.
Where do you live?
I live in Parkland County near Devon, about a 20 minute drive from West Edmonton Mall.
Which one of your books is your favorite?
Each one is special for a different reason. I like them all!
