Why invite an author to speak to your students?
Arts participation encourages learning and motivates students to strive for excellence. Students exposed to creative processes develop skills and habits that improve their ability to be successful in the classroom. They discover the joy of creation and realize success follows perseverance and practice. Students gain confidence and become excited about discovering new forms of expression.
Why invite Joan Marie Galat?
I'm a frequent presenter who has visited many hundreds of schools across Canada and toured in South Korea. My experience encompasses:
- Author presentations
- Corporate workshops
- Keynote speeches
- School and library residencies
- Teacher conventions
- Writing and storytelling workshops for students
- Workshops for teachers, librarians, and adult writers
Teachers, librarians, and students have shared these comments on my presentations.
I’ve been visiting schools, libraries, space and science centers, and other venues since my first title, Dot to Dot in the Sky, Stories in the Stars, was released in 2001. It has been a pleasure to share my books and perform as a storyteller, engaging several thousands of students at many hundreds of schools. Funding is available for writing residencies and some public presentations.
